A la hora de hacer un viaje a un país extranjero es realmente importante conocer algunas frases útiles en inglés que nos pueden salvar de un gran apuro. Hay diferentes situaciones en las que nos podemos encontrar y, para resolverlas, vamos a conocer un vocabulario básico muy útil.

Situación número 1: Necesitas ayuda.

• Disculpe — Excuse me
• ¿Podría ayudarme? — Could you help me?
• ¿Habla español? — Do you speak spanish?
• Lo siento — I’m sorry
• No hablo inglés — I don’t speak English.
• No entiendo — I don’t understand.
• ¿Puedo hacerle una preguna? — Can I ask you a question?
• ¿Dónde está el (baño)? — Where is the (toilet)?
• ¿Podría repetir eso por favor? — Could you please repeat that?
• Gracias — Thank you.
• De nada — You’re welcome.
• Estoy enfermo — I’m sick.
• Necesito un doctor — I need a doctor.

Situación número 2: Necesitas información sobre un medio de transporte.

• ¿Cuánto cuesta un billete a ___? — How much does a ticket to ___ cost?
• Deme un billete a ___, por favor — Please give me a ticket to ___.
• ¿A dónde va este tren/autobús? — Where is this train/bus going to?
• ¿A qué hora sale/llega el tren? — What time does the train leave/arrive?
• Lléveme a ___, por favor — Take me to ___, please.
• ¿Cuál es la próxima parada? — What’s the next stop?
• ¿Tengo que bajarme aquí? — Do I have to get off here?
• ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda desde aquí a __? — How long does it take from here to __?

Situación número 3: En el aeropuerto.

• ¿A qué hora es el embarque del avión? — What time is the plane boarding?
• ¿Tiene su tarjeta de embarque? — Do you have your boarding pass?
• ¿Tiene equipaje para facturar? — Do you have any baggage to check?
•  ¿Te gustaría ventanilla o pasillo? — Would you like a window or aisle seat?
•  ¿Se retrasará mi vuelo o llega a tiempo? — Is my flight delayed or on-time?
•  ¿A qué puerta debo ir? — Which gate must I go to?
•  ¿Cuál es el número de mi vuelo? — What’s my flight number?
•  Mire el horario de vuelos — Look at the timetable.
•  El avión está aterrizando/despegando — The plane is landing/taking off.
•  ¿Dónde está la zona de recogida de equipaje? — Where is the baggage claim?
• Coja su equipaje en recogida de equipaje — Pick up your bags at baggage claim.
• He perdido mi equipaje — I have lost my baggage.

Situación número 4: En el hotel.

• No tengo reserva — I don`t have a reservation.
• ¿Tiene habitaciones disponibles? — Do you have any rooms available?
• ¿Cuánto cuesta una habitación? — How much is the room?
• ¿Qué tipo de habitación prefiere? — What kind of room would you prefer?
• Quisiera una habitación con una sola cama (doble cama) para esta noche — I would like a single (double) room for tonight.
• ¿Está incluido el desayuno? — Is the breakfast included?
• ¿Tiene televisión? — Does it have television?
• Me quedaré durante ___ noche(s) — I will stay for ___ night(s).
• ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? — What time is breakfast served?
• Quiero registrar mi salida — I want to check out.

Situación número 5: En el restaurante.

• Por favor, espere para sentarse — Please wait to be seated.
• ¿Tenéis alguna mesa libre? — Do you have any free tables?
• Me gustaría hacer una reserva — I`d like to make a reservation.
• Una mesa para dos — A table for two.
• ¿Podría ver el menú, por favor? — Could I see the menu, please?
• ¿Está listo para pedir? — Are you ready to order?
• ¿Qué me recomienda? — What do you recommend?
• ¿Podría traerme una botella de agua? — May I have a water bottle?
• Tomaré gambas — I`ll have the prawns.
• ¡Qué aproveche! — Enjoy your meal.
• Esto no es lo que pedí — This isn´t what I ordered.
• La comida está fría — The food is cold.
• ¿Podría traernos la cuenta, por favor? — Could we have the bill, please?
• ¿Puedo pagar con tarjeta? — Can I pay by card?

Situación número 6: En las tiendas.

• ¿Puedo ayudarle en algo? — Can I help you?
• ¿Desea alguna cosa más? — Would you like anything else?
• ¿Cuánto cuesta esto? — How much does this cost?
• ¿Tiene__? — Do you have any__?
• Estoy buscando__ — I`m looking for__.
• ¿Dónde puedo encontrar__? — Where can I find the__?
• ¿Tiene algo más barato? — Have you got anything cheaper?
• Pagaré en efectivo: — I`ll pay in cash.
• Pagaré con tarjeta: — I`ll pay by card.
• ¿Aceptan tarjetas de crédito? — Do you take credit cards?
• ¿Podría darme el recibo, por favor? — Could I have a receipt, please?

Situación número 7: En una excursión.

• ¿Dónde puedo encontrar información turística? — Where can I find tourist information?
• ¿Puedo comprar un mapa aquí? —  Can I buy a map here?
• ¿Qué debo visitar durante mi estancia? —  What should I see while I`m here?
• ¿Dónde está el major lugar para hacer turismo? —  Where’s the best place to go sightseeing?
• ¿Hay museos aquí? —  Are there any museums here?
• ¿Me puede recomendar una buena galería de arte? —  Can you recommend a good art gallery?
